LaunchBay (based in North Billerica, MA) is a small company focused on product development and commercialization. We are looking for an innovative Senior R&D Engineers to join our team.

A successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of accomplishment in their own field, be self-motivated with a can-do attitude, comfortable with a small company culture, excited and proud about the impact of their own work.

• Main Responsibilities
  • Manage research and development projects, including experimental design, problem solving, data analysis, reporting and presentation)
  • Planning and execution of laboratory R&D experiments, data analysis and interpretation
  • Prototype development (design, build, assembly, and test)
  • Project management (technical execution, cost, schedule, customer management)
  • Pursue business/funding opportunities, including SBIRs/BAAs.
  • Support existing ongoing activities and build new areas of research based on their technical expertise
  • Assist with transition of projects from R&D to full scale manufacturing
• Requirements
  • PhD in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related fields) and 3+ years of experience in RD environment, or BS/MS + 6 years of experience in similar roles
  • Hands-on experience with research and development projects
  • Demonstrated capability to execute and win new programs
• Desired skills and requirements
  • Outside-the-box thinking to develop innovative solutions in response to customer needs
  • Familiar with software/hardware tools used for product design and fabrication
  • Familiar with materials R&D lab environment
  • Experience with any of the following areas:
    • New Materials and Processes
    • Films, Polymers, Adhesives
    • Coatings, Laminations
    • Protective fabrics and technical textiles
  • Team player while able to handle independently multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (reports, presentations, proposals)
  • Familiarity with SBIR process is a plus

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree with 3+ years of experience or PhD in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, and related fields)
• Desired skills and requirements
  • Experience related to coatings, films, lamination, adhesives, technical textiles
  • Familiar with software/hardware tools used for product design and fabrication
  • Familiar with environment in a materials R&D lab
  • Team player while able to handle independently multiple tasks
  • Critical thinking on planning, execution and data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (reports, presentations, proposals)

LaunchBay (based in North Billerica, MA) is a small company focused on product development and commercialization. We are looking for graduate students interns to assist with projects in any of the following areas:

• Equipment/device: design, build, test (mechanical, electrical, control, and automation)
• Sensors (wearable, network) for healthcare and DoD applications
• Sterilization and infection control
• Flexible electronics
• Sustainable technologies
• Drinking water and wastewater treatment technologies
• Filtration

You will gain hands on experience with different stages of product development process including: Concept development, feasibility study and prototype development and testing.

Priority will be given to PhD and Master’s students that can demonstrate:

• Critical thinking
• Passion for applied research and product development
• Hands on experience
• Technical writing skills

We are looking for students that can work full time for 3-6 months but will accommodate part time and flexible working schedule as well.

Remote and in-person arrangements will be considered.
